NELHSF Distributes Innovative Safety Apparel

As part of its highway work zone safety program, the New England Laborers Health and Safety Fund tested 500 ANSI Class 2 Retroreflective T-shirts this past summer. The fluorescent green shirts were constructed in the of breathable material to allow workers the protection of retroreflective gear without the added heat and bulkiness of a safety vest. The technology of the reflective striping gives workers the advantage of being seen in all working conditions, including areas of low light and night time, by reflecting light directly back to its source (ie. headlights/motorists).
The response from members who tested the personal protective shirt was very positive. They were satisfied with the comfort of breathable safety apparel that was not cumbersome to wear.Workers found the shirts durable and easy to wash.Several signatory contractors, as well as the Massachusetts Laborers District Council, have purchased the shirts for distribution to New England
